CARMAN GROUP BUSINESS PLAN
History of The Carman Group LLC
Mr. Mark
Carman, an executive with the Village Family Service Center, Fargo,
ND for over 20 years and an owner of Golf Quest International, found
a potential investment opportunity concerning an electric vehicle
manufacturing company in 1997. The company was known as The
Trans2 Company of Livonia, MI. It was the market leader in a
new classification of EV called the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV).
Mr. Carman
took the investment opportunity to a group of investors, one being
Mr. Mike Hofer of Fargo, ND. Mr. Hofer acted decisively by
securing the assets of the Trans2 Corporation and formed a
management and sales team. Mr. Carman became the Western USA
Sales Manager and moved his family to Phoenix, AZ. The name of
the company was changed to Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) and was
promptly moved to Fargo, ND. During the time with Global
Electric Motorcars, Mr. Carman obtained much knowledge about not
only the golf cart business but Alternative Fuel Vehicles. Mr.
Carman became involved with many companies needing AFVs, such as
Arizona Public Service (APS), ASU (Arizona State University), Luke
AFB, Southwest Airlines, America West Airlines, Del Webb Builders,
Dept of Energy, USMC, and also Daimler/Chrysler. In addition
to the fleet customers needing electric vehicles was the discovery
of thousands of “Baby Boomers” retiring into the Southwest and
needing Low Speed Vehicles to move around in the gated communities
they were moving to.
In 2001, GEM
was sold to Daimler-Chrysler with Mr. Carman being retained to help
sell vehicles in the California and Southwest Markets. After
meeting the goals set up by DCX, all sales representatives were
dismissed.
In 2003, The
Carman Group LLC was formed. Mr. Carman discovered a great
need by his contacts for other
Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, and a need for infrastructure
consultation such as Charging Stations and other services. As
a result, The Carman Group LLC obtained marketing rights to the LSV
100 Electric Fueling Station, obtained a Club Car dealership, and
formed alliances with fabricators to make specific accessories for
vehicles such as the Gems and Club Cars.
The following
will explain the products and services the Carman Group LLC provides

Current Electric Vehicle Marketplace
The Carman
Group has had seven years experience in analyzing the current EV
marketplace. The markets that currently have and need EVs are:
college campuses, military bases, airports/airlines,
city/state/federal governments, hospitals, apartments, security
companies, national forest departments, gated communities and many
more. The two main markets The Carman Group will focus on will
be Fleets and Gated Communities.
Fleets are
mandated either by federal laws or by local mandates to use as many
AFVs (Alternative Fuel Vehicles) as possible. Currently, we
have found most large corporations already have electric golf carts
in their fleet and realize they will have to purchase replacement
vehicles each year. They are looking for reliable inexpensive
vehicles to do the job. Our remanufactured vehicles with a
2-year warranty will do that very nicely. In addition, we have
the fast-charging infrastructure that will increase the life of the
batteries and vehicles.
Some of our
current fleet customers are: APS, ASU, Southwest Airlines,
America West Airlines, Motorola, Luke AFB, San Diego Police Dept.,
US Marines, US Navy, St. Regis Monarch Hotel, Chapman University,
UCLA, ETEC, DOE, Daimler-Chrysler, Bechtel, Palo Verde Nuclear
Plant, Sun-Cor Development Company, Chapman University, Marine Corp
San Diego, Navy San Diego CA., and Sun City Residents.
Marketing Strategy
The Carman
Group LLC projects the majority of sales will be from the Sunbelt
and new retirement market regions. These regions include
Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, Utah,
Mexico and the other coastal areas of Georgia, South Carolina, and
North Carolina. In addition, a fair amount of sales will come
from overseas.
Gated
Community Strategy - The Carman Group LLC template for gated
community sales will be done in the Phoenix/Scottsdale AZ area.
Currently, over 10,000 families move into the Phoenix area each
month. Many of these people are retirees that will end up in
the Sun City type of retirement communities. A golf cart is
almost a requirement for mobility issues. Most developments
allow private golf carts to be used on the golf course also.
In addition, most encourage the use of electric vehicles for the
short commutes.
We believe a
centrally located Distribution Center should be in
the Tempe, AZ area. Here we would have a large showroom
and inventory of vehicles, but would also assemble vehicles and put
the accessories on. Tempe is very centrally located and would
be an excellent location to service the large fleet customers also.
In addition to the distribution center we would have
approximately 4 retail stores near the largest growing housing
developments. This would insure one-on-one relationships with
the new residents moving in. In addition, parts
would be sold out of these sites. People buy from people.
Fleet Sales
- Fleet sales would be done out of the distribution center.
In addition, most parts sales would be done there if the
service could not be done on site. Fleet sales will be huge since Phoenix
has many large corporations, military installations, defense
contractors, universities, state, city, and federal installations.
We would be part of the State Bid Process for Vehicles (Sporas) and
also be part of the GSA Bid process.
Franchises
- The Carman Group constantly receives inquiries on opening
franchises all around the USA. We believe the template of our
shop/store could be replicated all around the Southern Belt States.
We would be the re-manufacturer of Nevs/Golf Carts and parts to
supply these stores.
Revenue Projections
The Carman
Group receives many calls per day asking for vehicles, and parts for the vehicles. We are happy to announce we have
opened our first retail store in Fountain Hills, AZ. The
response has been fantastic. We are doing more
parts business than we expected. In addition, sales of the vehicles are also doing
very well as the word gets out we are here.
We will forward a revenue projection upon request.
Summary
This is a
brief summary of what The Carman Group is doing and what could
happen.
The Phoenix area and Sun Belt areas are currently being pressured to
reduce trips and reduce pollution. There are air resources
boards and environmental groups that are putting pressure on large
developments and new corporations to use alternative fuel vehicles.
Our electric vehicles are zero emission vehicles (ZEVS) and are
needed greatly in niche applications. For example, Sun City
only allows electric vehicles in their developments. With our
electric fueling stations we will have the added value others that
will help not only the residents reduce costs but also the
businesses to meet their federal and state obligations of reducing
pollution. In addition, The Carman Group will customize
vehicles to meet the needs of the customer. For example, ASU
needs certain vehicles and accessories to do the duty cycles
required each day. Senior citizens may need a handicapped
vehicle to help them. We can do that.
One of the
attributes of The Carman Group has been availability of vehicles.
The Hawk-eye group has enabled us to have vehicles in stock and to
be able to deliver immediately to the customer. That added
value is very important and will help us get and retain customers.
I believe our partnership could change the way people commute and
use fossil fuels. Our customers only need to plug their
vehicles in the wall to have enough clean fuel on board to do their
daily trips. Certainly, cold starts will be reduced which is
the most polluting feature of the current (ICE) internal combustion
engine.
Currently,
there are federal tax credits for those that will use AFVs. We
may be able to receive special credits for remanufacturing vehicles
and for helping the environment. In addition, our vehicles
will help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
We would
welcome your investment into our business. We believe
substantial income will be made by following this business plan.
